Weekend Merchants Merchandise Sales Interview

By Interviewer at 11/01/09 06:37

Name of your website?

Weekend Merchants" Merchandise Sales

Your name?

Dale

Your Location (city, etc)

Chico

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Website is designed to provide merchandise reseller, such as Flea Market and Swap Meet sellers an opportunity to buy a wide variety of merchandise in small lots at wholesale prices, that will allow them to resell the merchandise and realize reasonable to fantastic profits.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I have been going to Flea Markets etc. for many many years, and I have noticed the wide variety of merchandise available, however, in discussions with many vendors I have found that one problem many experience is not being able to buy small quantities of suitable merchandise to resell. SO I decided to see if I could fill this need for small lots of new, resalable merchandise, at prices that would allow for the reseller to realize a decent profit.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

My first website tentothetenth.com Shopping Mall was launched in May '09, it was not a merchandise selling mall at the time, but a convenience shopping mall for buyers to easily find products they were seeking in a variety of stores selling those products. I have since added a few Amazon.com merchandise product ads, and just recently added the Resellers Wholesale Merchandise page which is a listing of small lot merchandise that can be resold by the buyer profitably.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Always a problem so I decided to just address exactly who I was targeting and what i am doing in the title. ergo Weekend Marketers' Merchandise Sales.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

There seem to be few, if any sites that sell new merchandise, in small lots, at wholesale prices that enable the reseller to realize a reasonable profit.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to provide a needed service to resellers and to keep the site for income purpose for myself and my family. I don't plan to sell the site but, never say never.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It's too early to really tell. This site is less than a month old and advertising programs are just developing so success is a future answer. Hopefully, it will be a huge success.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Greatly expand the merchandise offered inventory. Develop unique merchandise acquisition and distribution plans to enable small resellers to participate in offering they are normally unable to today.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, I would add personnel as needed to accommodate the increased workload and demand. If you build a business and can't adjust to meet success you had best not start the business in the first place.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

You cna get nickel-ed and dime-ed 9actually Dollars) to death working with companies on the internet. Everybody want a monthly fee for something or nothing. Computers and the internet are marvelous things but when you really start working with them and developing a business the time consumption is unbelievable.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Learning the ins and outs of dealing with a wide variety of companies, their services and their systems, and becoming comfortable with working with the each frequently or occassionally.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Can't answer this yet. Too soon after the start to know.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

As I mentioned before, I am really surprised at the vast amount of time that is required to develop and keep the site current, active and viable. I think the time commitment will be worth it, at least I hope so.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site is less than a month old, so it's just a baby. I plan to continue running and developing the site for as long as it takes to make it truly successful.

What kind of assistance would you like to receive ?

I would really appreciate active Weekend Marketers' ie. Flea Market, etc. seller emailing me their comments, suggestions, recommendations and advise for developing and improving my mdsetoresell.com website at dalesfc@yahoo.com.

What is your website address?
