Please give us a short summary of your website?

What inspired you to launch your own website?
Trying to find another source other than ebay for people to sell products. The changes with ebay have been hard over the years on the little man.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
It has been several years since I launched my first website apx 2001. I still have it, http://www.yourhomeresort.com and I'm in the process of updating it. I will submit it when ready
How did you decide on a name for that first website?
I thought it from the heart. What did I want for myself. A home with a resort feeling. A vacation atmosphere at home. To be happy and relaxed everyday of the year. So it came to me to build a Home Resort.
What makes your Kentucky Web Trader website different from other, similar offerings?
We offer unlimited Free ads and advertise it locally so the real old time traders can expand their boundarys. Also, we try to keep the listings simple to list and manage so it doesn't take a computer genius to place the listings. Plain and Simple. User Friendly you could say.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep for extra income to help others in need, play it forward, join the big give.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
This early in the game there is a major imbalance. All work and spending with nothing coming back in return. But it will come in time.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would employ others to help with content and promotion.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, I believe so with the right helpers.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Purchasing new software and learning how to use it. I was accustomed to the old time html and had to learn css and more new, still learning, slow process.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning new concepts. Relearning old ones in a new way.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I can't answer that question right now since this is the first directory I have submitted to and I don't know which will be most successful. I plan to blog some, talk in forum, and things like that to bring traffic in.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has taken much longer than expected to get it going live. The learning curve and the motivation to do so has been difficult. I expected it would happen fast and easy. WRONG.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since I'm just getting started on this site I will keep working it for a year or so to give it a chance. Then consider my options.
What is your vision for Kentucky Web Traders
I would like to see a community of like minded, down to earth people, come together to trade both online and on the local level. I would also like to see an annual Artist Trade Card Show in Eastern Kentucky. And I'd love to see those classified ads flowing over. Please invite your readers to come place their FREE ads soon!
